Marathoning for Mortals

Besides the Bible, this is my favorite book of all time. Having a runner’s mentality while stuck in an overweight body makes me feel crazy at times. John Bingham is so encouraging because as an adult onset athlete he’s been there. He’s a certified back of the pack runner who runs only for the pure joy of it. I can totally relate.

His training guides are realistic for overweight folks. They're a far cry from the Couch-2-5k plan which makes me feel HOPELESS just looking at day ONE. This book includes lots of training plans ranging from walking a half marathon to running a full so there’s sure to be one perfect for you. The important part is being brave enough to take the first step.

Sweat Report 3/27 – 4/3

So if you were looking for something encouraging today, my apologies. It was hard finding the courage to post today’s Sweat Report. It was my birthday week and my celebration mindset made it easy to give up exercising (and posting to the blog…sorry).

Halfway through the week I noticed my energy level dropping. My healthier eating habits disappeared since I wasn’t exercising. By the end of the week, I was tired and GRUMPY with my kids. I’ve never been more convinced of the benefits of exercise. It keeps me sane!

On a happy note: I’ve started receiving comments that my daughter looks healthier. This thrills me!!

I’m committing to walking today. It’s amazing how one day of exercising can put you right back on track. If you’ve found yourself slacking, join me for a walk today (virtually). I’d love to hear if you do.
